How this course works

Frequency first. The words come from the Lexique 3.83 database of how often each word appears in French films and books. The top 2,000 lemmas cover roughly 80–85% of the words in a typical text, so lesson by lesson you understand more of everything you read.

Cognates are free. Over half of the words look like their German or English equivalent (jardin, garden, Garten). They are marked ≈, and each lesson teaches one pattern (-tion, -ité = -ity/-ität, ê = es/s, é- = s-) that unlocks dozens more. False friends are marked in red.

Spaced repetition. Every word you learn comes back just before you'd forget it. Do your reviews every day before new material: that's what makes it stick.
